cheapest flights and cheapest time to book flight to Melbourne (australia) for September?
November 4, 2008 - hey, i am going to Melbourne in September just wondering what are the best websites and whether it is cheaper to book now or book at last minute/nearer the time. thanks!
I'm flying from England
- ALONG WITH THE WEB, CALL A FEW TRAVEL AGENTS AND SPEAK TO THE AIRLINES. IN ONE WORD, SHOP, SHOP SHOP AROUND. OOPS FOUR WORDS. HAPPY FLYING.
- since going to australia is such a big trip you should book in advance and talk to a travel agent as well as 'google'ing it
- http://www.fotolog.com/mipais_argentina the argentinian blog´s visit it !
pick up a tnt magazine from most tube stations in central london. Check out the travel section and make a few calls and check out some of the advertised websites. Can get some cool cheap flights this way with stopovers if you wanted. Its a gamble to wait to too long to buy a ticket, personally buy it soon, sooner the better unless you get unlucky and they do a little sale, but better to spend 100 quid more than 500!!!
- go to www.newcenturyworldtravel.com
- First check: Qantas, that has a couple of promotions going on. Then: www.kayak.com www.farecompare.com www.momondo.com http://www.mobissimo.com/search_airfare.php Try now. Plus kayak.com will give you a trend and offer you a fare alert!
- check all the long haul airlines on here
Virgin Blue have a happy hour every day, you just need to sign up for their webmail. Jetstar also have the same sort of thing again you find out by signing up to rceive emails. Where are you flying from? It is also School holidays in September so booking ahead of time would be best.
It depends a bit on where you are flying from, of course. RIght now there are some great deals in September between US and Australia. There are usually deals that come and go, but you're flying at a good time - September is our shoulder season so the fare specials seem to be available more often during that time. I'd start looking right now and seeing what the prices are. Then you'll know when good deal comes along. Keep in mind, too, that fares will increase as you get closer to the travel date (specials excluded), so if you can't find a fare deal it's best to get it done sooner rather than later. As far as websites, it depends where you're flying from: American has a deal for $1212 at the moment to Melbourne, Qantas is around $1300, United is around $1375. www.Expedia.com is good for getting an idea of which airlines will be best, and then I usually just go through the airline's own website after that (sometimes it's cheaper to do it that way, and then you know you're dealing directly with the airline). Have fun!
